| Military: | Walter, a labourer, enlisted on 16 February 1898 in the 2nd Battalion of the Norfolk Regimend, Private 4894, and fought in the Anglo-Boer War. There was also a note saying he had served in the 7th Mounted Infantry. He was entitled to the King’s South Africa Medal, 1901 and 1902, with clasps for Belmont, Modder River, Defence of Kimberley and Relief of Mafeking. |
